The dream for the establishment of Louisville Girls Secondary School Abuja came into fruition in September 2006 with Lt. Rev. Sr. Fagbemi Carmel-Mary ssl, as the founding principal. What started then as a budding flower, has, to the Glory of God and the service of humanity, grown to a big tree whose boughs nest many birds; whose fresh fruits give suckle, and under whose shade many have sheltered.
The school is located in the heart of Gwagwalada Area Council of the FCT and is situated amidst the Basa tribe of the Gwari people in Old Kutunku, Kaida Road Abuja. The secured serene environment, dedicated staff, and mutual understanding between the school and the community have enhanced accelerated growth and elevated the school to an enviable spot on the map of most-sought-after schools in the Abuja metropolis.
The school prides itself in the eclectic development of the students; that is, spiritual, moral, social, and academic excellence. It absorbs indigent children of the community on scholarship; organises a December party for school children in the neighborhood and visits remote parts of the community to share goods with the poor and the needy.
Students who finished school have smoothly transited to the next level of academic pursuit either on scholarship or otherwise both in Nigerian universities or abroad. Our success stories speak for themselves as we have many of our students in different schools all around the world.
Apart from activities in the classroom, the students are excellent in their talent displays through dedicated training from the staff. They have participated and won several awards in Arts: drawing and painting. The Drama group have successfully staged Wole Soyinka’s plays: The Trial of Brother Jeroand Childe Internationale and they have also thrilled their audience in the production of Wale Ola Rotimi’sThe gods are not to Blame and Our Husband has gone Mad Again.
Our students are not left out in Games and sports activities as they have track records of their achievements in medals won at one competition and another: relay races, football, basketball, and so on. The orchestra group is thrilling at every event in the school and so is the school choir. The Press Club brings the news to the students and the community fresh and direct with new innovations every Tuesday morning. They even go the extra mile to make advertisements (unpaid-for) in their presentations.
The school has enjoyed the support of parents and especially that of the PTA executives. The beautiful Staff Quarters they erected in the school bears witness to this. They have also supported the training of teachers on short courses abroad and for this we are grateful.
With the crop of the Administration Team of the school at the moment: focused and indefatigable, we believe Louisville is set for greater things as they are relentless in building on and improving the good legacy of the Sisters of St. Louis in moulding both physical and human structures. Where we are is not our desired goal, therefore we strive every minute to make our today better than yesterday so that our tomorrow becomes the best.
